Old Spice has taken the success of their Old Spice Man commercials to a new level.
On July 13th, Old Spice began a new ad campaign on YouTube featuring the shirtless guy from the TV commercials filming personalized responses to fans on Twitter, YouTube and a few other sites.
On Old Spice’s YouTube page (http://www.youtube.com/user/oldspice) you can find dozens and dozens of videos (most less than 40 seconds) featuring the Old Spice Man responding to regular people and famous ones.
One in particular is TV star Alyssa Milano who has received a few video responses from the Old Spice Man
Well, it turns out that he wasn’t joking. Those flowers ended up on Alyssa’s doorstep this morning along with a note. http://alyssamilano.posterous.com
What a fantastic use of social media and this new marketing campaign by Old Spice really harkins in a new era for online marketing and how it can tie in with traditional media marketing. I don’t know what’s next for Old Spice or the Old Spice Man but they definitely have a hit right now and have become unbelievably viral. This fun and funny Twitter and Youtube ad campaign redefines the model for Promoted Trends on Twitter.
These video responses are hilarious and no doubt Old Spice has their Old Spice Man filming video responses around the clock to answer tweets from regular joes, internet moguls and movie stars.
This has my vote for one of the best ad campaigns ever. The Old Spice Man even filmed a video marriage proposal from Twitter. Talk about interaction with your user base.
Which she said Yes to.
